Call for Proposals: Showcase Presentations at the College of Healthcare Operations Management Mini-Conference

The College of Healthcare Operations (CHOM) of the Production & Operations Management Society (POMS) is planning our third annual Synapse Mini-Conference to connect academics and practitioners, on May 8, 2014, the afternoon before the start of the main POMS conference. We invite you to submit a proposal for a Showcase Presentation. Two presentation proposals will be selected, and the presenting authors invited to present their work through a 30-minute presentation. This event will occur during the mini-conference in the late afternoon session. The CHOM mini-conference registration fee will be waived for one presenting author of each of the selected presentations.

Please send an extended abstract and description of your proposed presentation (maximum of two pages) to Linda LaGanga, Ph.D., (linda.laganga@mhcd.org), CHOM VP of Meetings, by February 15, 2014.

The CHOM Board members, along with any other CHOM members we appoint as reviewers, will use the following criteria to select the Showcase Presentations:

1. The project provides substantial demonstrated value in addressing operational issues in healthcare.

2. There is innovative development and application of Operations Management methods to current and important healthcare problems.

3. The issues addressed and methodology used are of high interest and value to senior-level healthcare leaders, practitioners and researchers.

4. The project contributes significantly to scholarly academic knowledge and applied research focused on improving healthcare operations.

5. Preference will be given to projects done in collaboration with healthcare practitioners or healthcare organizations with the objective of influencing practice, and to projects that have been implemented in actual healthcare practice.
